Had a great time recently performing with Cello Ireland and string arrangements by Fiachra Trench. The group played the "Spike" Cello Festival in February and also recorded a session for RTE Lyric's "Purple Vespertine". I'm really excited about performing this music again in 2017.
"Ella Fitzgerald and Joe Pass". 2017 is the hundredth anniversary of the birth of the great Ella Fitzgerald. Really excited and honoured to be performing this upcoming project with Cello Ireland. We will perform at the Bello Bar on the 5th October with a view to to further performances in Spring 2017.

Just back from playing the wonderful Sligo Jazz Project. Great to see that this music is alive and well in Ireland. There are a number of Jazz Festivals happening over the next few months and hats off to all the organisers who run these events, most often with little or no funding. I'll be playing the Howth Jazz Festival this weekend, Limerick Jazz Festival in September and in October, the Galway and Cork jazz Festivals. (see "gigs' for more details)
Some fun recently with two great guitarists...Sheryl Bailey and Larry Coryell.

It was great to hook up once again with the great Georgie Fame for a concert at the Triskel, Cork. Really enjoyed the evening with Phil Ware, Dave Redmond and Dominic Mullan. Georgie was in great form as we performed material from his "Poet in New York" album -one of my all time favourite jazz vocal recordings.

It’s been a busy summer that featured a number of really enjoyable collaborations with fellow guitarists. It was a joy to play again with the great Louis Stewart at JJ’s, it had been a few years. Also at JJ’s, I had a fun gig with London jazz guitar legend Terry Smith.

Another wonderful event was the Grant Green tribute, a five nighter with the great Scottish guitarist Jim Mullen and Nigel Mooney (w/Scott Flanigan on organ and Dominic Mullan on drums).
A different experience was a concert at the Killaloe Chamber Music Festival with flamenco guitarist John Walsh and classical guitarist Redmond O’Toole. We each performed solo sets and then played together for the finale, a great vibe.
